Many of you probably saw my post in Sunday about 4 poor newborn kittens left by some heartless person in a bucket in front of my building only a few hours after being born. I was beside myself thet night..I cried so much…how can someone separate newborn babies from their mother is beyond me. One doesn’t have to be a cat-lover or a dog-lover for something like this to completely break their heart. This kind of thing unfortunately happens to cats and dogs in this city all the time. All it takes for this to devastate you is to simply be humane. No animal in this world has deserved this. When I saw them so small and helpless, I lost it. Two of them cried quietly but the other two were not moving nor crying. I was shaking, I picked them up and they were cold to the touch, like they just came out of a freezer. Why would this happen to these tiny, innocent souls, to their poor mother…I pray and hope that she died while giving birth, that she is not suffering somewhere looking for her babies…that she’s not suffering lactating with no babies to feed. People are truly capable of doing so much harm, their arrogance and lack of consideration for someone’s life are endless. I took off my shirt and wrapped the poor kittens in it, without a clue where to go and what to do. I thought they’d all die in my arms. It was Sunday, stores closed, nowhere to buy milk for them. I decided to try taking them to the cat who had kittens 20 days ago, the one I bought a dog house for. I jumped in a cab and rushed over there in fear that, if this mom cat does not accept them, they would not survive till morning, when the pet store opens so I can buy them milk. What happened next was unreal: this mother cat started licking them the minute I put them down next to her. My heart almost exploded with happiness. I cried and laughed at the same time. Mother cat’s sisters immediately came to help with her own three kittens…it was a scene impossible to describe. These animals are so much more caring than humans, they just felt the urgent need to help because it was matter of life or death. I was watching these 2 sisters who were sterilized few days ago taking care of their sister’s babies, while she is grooming and feeding the orphaned kittens…and she accepted them so readily. I was filled with so much grief and anger. My heart aches because of all the animal suffering. there are countless cases like this, humans separating newborn babies from their cat and dog mothers. How many die a horrible death… damn people. One thing I am asking of you is that these cats never be hungry again. We have these cats with kittens here, plus my 4 new kittens.
