Meet Silky! This special-needs beauty is looking for a very special home to love and care for her forever. She arrived to the shelter as a stray kitten a few months ago, and upon her arrival it was very clear that she was different from any other kitten who has ever come through our doors. Despite her differences, Silky is just like any other kitten: she is always happy, friendly, and ready to play, and she does not let her disability slow her down!

Silky was born with Manx Syndrome, meaning the end of her spinal cord did not develop properly. This leaves her her tail-less with urinary incontinence and partial fecal incontinence, where she needs routine bladder expression (2-3 times per day). With low-rising litterboxes and a bit of patience, Silky does try to climb into a litterbox to defecate, though sometimes she is unable to. Because of this incontinence, Silky gets daily “booty-baths” to ensure her hind end stays clean and to reduce the risk of her developing urinary and other infections. Silky LOVES getting her daily skin wipes, and she purrs the entire time she is being cleaned! Outside of managing her incontinence, Silky is a normal and healthy cat with a good appetite and otherwise good health. She gets daily miralax in her food to keep her stools regular and adequately formed, as well as a chewable joint supplement (that she thinks is a treat- shhh!)

Silky’s hind limbs are a bit underdeveloped, but she has full sensation through both of her back legs, and gets around just fine- including climbing cat trees, shelves, and zooming around like any happy kitten is expected to! She never lets her special needs stop her from living her best kitten life and climbing into your arms to cuddle and take a nap.

We are looking for someone with medical experience and/or extensive experience working with special needs pets to take this beautiful and affectionate (always purring!!) white tiger into your home. For more information about Silky or to set up a visit with this beauty, call the shelter today! Silky is waiting for her forever family in a foster home.
